The Electrical Estimator bids and wins highly profitable and feasibly constructible projects that have pricing strategies developed to maximize our profits, cash flow, and avoid any losses during construction.

The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for the coordination of bid documents, labour productions, subcontractor and vendor pricing, subcontractor and vendor buyouts, subcontractor and vendor relationships, project start-up meetings, owner estimates, subcontractor and vendor requisitions and cost-to-completes.

The ideal candidate has outstanding communication skills and is excellent at multi-tasking, as this position requires the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and has significant interaction with stakeholders, subcontractors and vendors as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Thoroughly investigates the specifications, scope of work, drawings, other RFP documents and develops a complete understanding of the RFP requirements
Accurately and timely performs take-offs and calculations and analyzes data
Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of the contract documents and the potential risks for a project; makes well-supported recommendations on how to mitigate and price risks
Works with other disciplines and functions to collect all necessary data on scope and quantities to prepare an accurate estimate
Conducts field visits to gather relevant data on project site conditions, verify production rates and learn new construction techniques; accordingly adjusts bid methods and incorporates this information during the bidding process
Develops productivity analyses of construction operations and verifies results by manpower and crew analysis of work operations by craft to validate estimating standards
Negotiates the best deal for cost, quality, and delivery using the company buyout procedure
Prepares cost studies utilizing historical data, statistical analysis and cost and quantity comparisons; innovates new techniques as required to support future bids
Continuously generates and evaluates value engineering solutions and develops pricing strategies
Ensures all subcontractors and vendors have an executed NDA in place before sharing any project/ bid information
Completes Schedule of Values or RFP required price breakdown form to support the proposal
Drafts technical and commercial proposals with detailed pricing and clarifications.
Ensures bids and proposals are completed on time for team review prior to submission
Reviews and provides feedback on electrical scope of work on bids prepared by other team members
Coaches junior estimators on electrical scope and pricing
Attends quarterly cost-to-complete meetings for current projects and incorporates lessons learned in future bids
Participates extensively in contract review and negotiations
Follows thoroughly, develops as needed and implements improvement to standard estimating processes

Ten years of electrical estimating experience, PV experience preferred
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or minimum 5 years of relevant construction industry experience
Excellent teamwork, communication, and people skills a must
Extensive knowledge and experience in EPC estimating practices and methods, including demonstrated ability to organize, perform, and present cost estimating products with a minimum of supervision
Has a solid time management system and demonstrates excellent organizational skills
Track record of achievement and career progression.
Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, Word, etc.),
Proficient in understanding electrical plans, project specifications, utility requirements and electrical equipment specifications
Knowledge of NEC requirements and other industry standards, NABCEP certification preferred
Experience in Primavera or Microsoft Project, HCSS, and Bluebeam would be advantageous
